6th LAWASIA Human Rights Conference
Human Rights under Threat – Meeting the Challenges from Repression, Climate Change, Artificial Intelligence, and the Decline of the Rule of Law
The LAWASIA Human Rights Committee, together with the Environmental Law Committee and the Indigenous Communities and Peoples Committee, is delighted to announce that the 6th LAWASIA Human Rights Conference 2026 will be held at the Chatrium Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, from 11 - 12 May 2026.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Human Rights under Threat – Meeting the Challenges from Repression, Climate Change, Artificial Intelligence, and the Decline of the Rule of Law”, will bring together lawyers, judges, academics, and human rights advocates from across the region and beyond to discuss pressing human rights issues, share insights, and strengthen regional cooperation.
The conference will have four themes: Human Rights, Environmental Rights, Indigenous Rights, and ESG.
There will be parallel sessions. Each session will have a maximum of 3-4 speakers, each with 12 minutes (maximum) for questions from the floor. Moderators will NOT be allowed to speak; they may only introduce the speakers and guide the discussion.
LAWASIA is unable to provide financial assistance for speakers. Speakers must pay for their registration fee, travel and accommodation costs.
